Microfocus Netexpress Free Download
The Personal Edition products are for educational use only and you should not be running any application that is developed using this product in a production environment. This goes against our EULA. If you have developed an application back in 2009 that you are running on your system then you need to purchase a licensed copy of Net Express. The license copy of Net Express 5.1 is based on the latest product wrappacks and it will install under newer operating systems like Windows 7.
Please contact your Micro Focus Account Manager for more information on upgrading to a current product release. Hi Chris, The Application is for training and has programs that are called to handle various functions, screen handling, file handling and printing. I also have copy libraries.
The purpose is to teach them how to use call, copy and other essential requirements for writing COBOL programs. None of these programs can be used on there own. I am retired and train people to use COBOL. They can continue to train on XP if it is not possible to install on Windows 7 or run the compiled programs on a Windows 7 PC.
Micro Focus Net Express with.NET is the market-leading COBOL development environment for extending core business processes to the.NET Framework and other distributed platforms. If it is not possible to run on Windows 7, I will remove the PC from the Network and use it as a stand alone PC. No production programs are written with this compiler.

I need a copy of Micro Focus Net Express for some investigation I'm doing. The Personal Edition is fine as I'll only be compiling some small sample programs and it is not for commercial use. I downloaded a 150 MB copy of it from CNET but it doesn't install.
The file is called 'NXP.exe'. The properties say it is a version 14.0.0.162 of a 'setup launcher' copyright Micro Focus 2006. If you attempt to execute it, it doesn't start the setup program, it just does nothing.
152MB of white elephant at the moment.:-) Does anyone have any clues on this or know where I can get the Personal Edition, or a version that actually installs? I don't want to buy the software because I only need to look at it for a few days. I guess I might have to go to e-bay, but that would be a last resort. -- 'I used to write COBOL.now I can do anything.'
Alistair Maclean 14/1/2011, 8:06 น. Thanks Alistair. There may be and I don't expect free help. I'll respond privately. If anyone else who has NE 5.1 might be interested in some support work please contact me privately. (No Doc, I am NOT trolling for resumes (I'm not in the pimping business) and I'm not quoting rates because the nature of what needs to be done is too tenuous at this stage.
If I have some willing individuals, I'll be happy to discuss with them what they can contribute and pay them accordingly. No pimps, this is direct to PRIMA and will be a direct agreement with me personally. I'll guarantee no-one gets ripped off.) Pete. -- 'I used to write COBOL.now I can do anything.' Pete Dashwood 14/1/2011, 16:15 น. On Jan 14, 9:29 am, 'Pete Dashwood' I did find a copy in my archives along with an e-mail promising a serial number and a work order number to follow by e-mail.
Either I have lost that e-mail or I never received that information. Anyway, only partial success. I'm on 32 bit Vista. The installer spins its wheels and appears to do nothing. However, I was able to launch it by right clicking and selecting run as administrator. I was not entirely happy with the outcome. 1) I was required to register name and e-mail with some sort of DRM manager.
