A friend who uses Acid Pro 7 has asked me for some advice, and I must admit I don't know the answer, so I thought I'd ask here: He's just got a new Windows 7 machine, and has installed Acid Pro 7. He doesn't have a copy of Cubase, but wants to use vst plugins within Acid. Will this work, without a copy of Cubase being installed first on the machine? He has a lot of freeware vsti's from Computer Music cover disks, and would like to use those.
Where on the C drive would the.dll files need to be copied to, in order for Acid to see them? I appreciate the easy answer would be to install a 30 day trial version of Cubase, but I know for a fact that my friend is mega-skint at the moment, and can't even afford the £14 for a Steinberg USB licenser key.
So if anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful. Cheers Regular Posts: 153 Joined: Thu Apr 03, 2003 12:00 am. Hi, Acid Pro let you define several folders to be scanned as VST containers. By default VST.dlls are located in: c: program files Vstplugins If you have any Steinberg products, there could be also some dlls at c: program files Steinberg Vstplugins Your VSTs can be in other other places. You can even define a hard drive and Acid will scan the entire drive for VSTs and import them to its list. To browse and define VST folders in Acid Pro goto [menus]: Options Preferences 'VST Effects' tab [or VST Instruments, depending on type of VST] Here you see 3 browse options to set VST folders. Browse and select any folders you want to be scanned.
When done, click 'Refresh' to see the list of available VSTs. How to use those VSTs FX on any channel track?
When you want to use a VST effect on any channel, by clicking the 'Track FX' button, a window will appear and shows all available plugins on your system. There's a seperate 'VST effects' in the left side menu.
This is where your friend will find the scanned and available VSTs to choose and set on any track. Regular Posts: 103 Joined: Fri Mar 02, 2012 1:00 am.
